Daily fact Fact #22

-40%carbon intensity since 2015

Since 2015, Ireland has cut the carbon intensity of its electricity by 40%, from 440 gCO2/kWh to 263 gCO2/kWh in 2025.

Both figures are Ember annual statistics. The fall comes from the change in what Ireland burns and generates, not from generating less.
