The world's electricity had a carbon intensity of 459 gCO2/kWh in 2025. Ethiopia was lowest at 23 gCO2/kWh and Uzbekistan highest at 1,000 gCO2/kWh. Carbon intensity is the lifecycle CO2 emitted per kWh of electricity generated, from Ember's annual statistics; each country's figure is for its latest published year.
