Generation Mix

A generation mix is the breakdown of a country's or grid's electricity output by fuel or technology over a period, usually shown as a percentage share of the total. It answers where the electricity comes from: how much from coal, gas, nuclear, hydro, wind, solar and other sources, and it can shift sharply hour to hour on a live grid even where the yearly mix looks stable.
